The Karatha Pluto Project - Woodside Petroleum is building an offshore platform 190 km north west of Karratha to extract liquid natural gas. The gas will be pumped 180 kilometres to a 200 hectare processing facility near the Burrup Peninsula. The facility can process at peak around 4.3 million tonnes of LNG per year. This gas will be ready for export by March 2012.
