#7 The Terminator (1984)

James Cameron's original vision for the time-travelling killer cyborg was an average, inconspicuous everyman who could easily blend into his surroundings (indeed, lanky Lance Henriksen was originally slated to play the part). Somehow, this morphed into a 6'2" body-building Austrian Oak who was about as inconspicuous as a polar bear in a chicken coop. Stan Winston's robotic effects might look a bit ropy these days, but the T-100 exoskeleton remains a terrifying creation.
