When it comes to dedicating oneself to a particular subject matter, Tim believes it’s important to balance experimentation with prior knowledge. “I think for photos to have any sort of depth to them, you have to be passionate about the subject and interested in its broader meaning. By doing that, you will have a better understanding of what your photos will signify to other people. My advice is to always enquire about everything you touch on; that way you’re better positioned to recognize things that might be more interesting. Having said that, it’s also important to ‘go fishing’ in order to catch something. If you don’t go on the journey, you won’t trip over something unexpected that surprises you and in turn, other people."
