This board is focused at the mainstream and lacks the fancy heatsinks seen on higher end motherboards. It does still have passive heatsinks over the power circuitry near the processor socket and a small passive heatsink over the P55 chipset chip (unlike AMD's 890 chipset, Intel uses a single chip with Northbridge functions added to the processors).

Intel's motherboard chipsets are different from AMDs. This P55 chipset motherboard is a mainstream offering that shows different design needs to the last board we looked at, which was a more enthusiast focused AMD 890FX offering.
