Remove the heatsink and this is the SB850 Southbridge chip. This chip controls interaction with peripherals. It can support 14 USB 2.0 ports, Six SATA 6Gb/s channels, One Parallel ATA channel, as well as interfacing with the HD Audio and Gigabit Ethernet controllers on the motherboard.
