Arriving in Australia in the next two years, the Nissan EV LEAF promises to be one of the world's first all-electric cars to market. It boasts 107 Horsepower, 160km range, 140km/hour top speed and a rapid recharge time in 30 mins (80% capacity). The Leaf will be connected to a global information grid, that can provide "additional support, information, and entertainment for drivers 24 hours a day" - including an interface with your mobile phone.

Disaster tech: A closer look at Telstra's portable back-up equipment for disaster areas
Telstra's MEOW can provide up to 450 fixed line telephone services and over 300 ADSL2+ broadband services, at speeds of up to 20Mbps. The COW unit can provide backup coverage mobile phones in diaster affected towns across rural Australia.
Using this equipment, Telstra can usually get ADSL services back on the air within hours of deployment - a must after disaster has struck.

Microsoft Surface with Lonely Planet application
