Photos: Nokia N810 WiMAX, is this the future of mobiles?
The big news among the latest crop of mobiles this week at CITA is the appearance of actual, real-life WiMAX mobiles like this Nokia N810. Like WiFi, WiMAX gives you wireless Internet, but at much greater range and speeds. The N810 certainly looks slick, though it's a lot clunkier than a mobile. Still the absence of Vista makes these an interesting alternative to UMPCs.

Photos: Samsung Instinct brings the touch appeal
It's not in Australia yet, but the gorgeous Samsung Instinct SPH-M800 is sending gadget buffs mad with touchscreen fever. Highlights include a classy 3.1inch screen (240x432 pixels), Visual Voicemail allowing you to browse your messages, GPS, photos, music, and even live TV via the Sprint TV service. The kicker? At about 114grams it's a tad lighter than the iPhone, and EV-DO connectivity means average downloads at up to 1.4Mbps. Over to you, Apple.
