Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77
We're excited about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77 for a couple of reasons. First, it's incredibly small. Pull this camera out of your pocket and people often marvel at how small it actually is (for the record the DSC-T77 is 15mm wide). Second, this camera is not a toy - the 10.1Megapixel unit actually takes decent photos, and has some lowlight and macro abilities that had us genuinely surprised. We were particularly impressed by the DSC-T77's ability to take decent shots without flash, under poor

Photos: Inside Sony's Garden of Bravia
[Maximise page to see captions] Sony's "Uchi" was created for this week's worldwide product launch. Meaning "home" in Japanese, the Uchi consisted of a variety of rooms, setup to showcase the latest Sony products, including the Motionflow 200Hz Bravia Z Series TV, Sony's Alpha a900 full frame Digital SLR, and hard drive equipped Giga Juke music player. Interestingly, just about everything on show was networked.

Sony Vaio TT series
The pint-size 1.3Kg Sony Vaio TT, which goes on sale October 16, sets a new benchmark in ultraportables, being the world's smallest and lightest portable to incorporate a Blu-Ray drive.

Sony Bravia ZX1 LCD TV
Sony reps told us the ZX1 makes ordinary LCD TVs "look like CRTs" when hung on a wall. The unit is the slimmest LCD TV in the world, weighing only 12Kg, which is featherweight compared to 40inch TVs like the Sony Bravia KDL40X3100, which weighs in at 26Kg without the stand. As well as being incredibly thin, the ZX1 uses side-mounted LEDs instead of backlighting - Sony's is calling this "Edge LED". All the input/output jacks, and tuner, are located separately in a wireless box.

Nova Navigator Cloud Computer
TechNovus Corp is touting its Nova Navigator as a “cloud computer” – there’s no hard drive inside, an Intel Atom 1.6Ghz, and a browser running on a Linux desktop. Unlike the Eee Box or Studio Hybrid, the Nova Navigator runs everything via the Web. Apps sit on a remote server – you pay a monthly subscription (possibly around $20, though pricing is yet to be announced ), which gives you 50GB of online storage and access to the Nova App Store for things like Office and Windows.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 vs Acer Aspire One
We've photographed Dell's new Inspiron Mini 9 side by side with one of our favourite ultra-minis - the Acer Aspire One. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has the edge in terms of price, with a launch price of $599 with Windows XP. By contrast, the Acer Aspire One started with $649 for the XP model, and $599 for the Linux model (though you'll find it cheaper online). Both machines run Intel Atom and the Acer comes with a Linux option out of the box, vs XP only for the Dell (at this stage).

Dell Inspiron Mini 9
It's not an Eee-PC killer, but Dell's entry into the pint-sized laptop market is a solid first effort. You get Intel Atom, Windows XP Home, 16GB SSD and an 8.9 screen. It's arguably beaten on keyboard and storage by the Acer Aspire One and MSI Wind, but the Dell's $599 launch price makes this as-good, or better value than the competition.

Panasonic DMR-BW500
Now that Blu-ray has won the format war and recorders are hitting the shelves, this HDD/Blu-Ray recorder with twin HD TV tuners is looking mighty nice indeed. It lets you watch DVD and Blu-ray movies, transfer HD home movies to disc and watch and record high-def television to DVD, Blu-ray or the built-in hard drive. The DMR-BW500 is much quieter and faster to load movies than the first generation of clunky Blu-ray players.

Sony Bravia KDL-20S4000
Sony is pitching this at the kitchen or bedroom, but it would fit anywhere around the house. This would be the perfect fit for an early adopter who already has a large size HD TV, and is looking for a classy 2nd screen. The entire unit weighs 8Kg without the stand (it's relatively easy to lug around), and is 1080p signal capable.

Microsoft Arc Mouse
There's been a few attempts to redesign the mouse, and the Arc is up there amongst the more striking designs, with its foldable half-moon shape. The foldeable idea is interesting, if a little pointless unless you're travelling, or like your desktop peripherals uber chic. The Arc actually folds up like a clamshell-type mobile phone, turning the device into a mini mouse.
