So what board would you recommend for my setup? I'm after a RAID 0 config. As for data storage, I have an external HD that should suffice. The boards i just linked to. Prices can be beaten if you look around.

Prices can be beaten if you look around. I agree with Benji on final spec's and comment on price shopping. Genocide You now need do the final price checking and comparison yourself. We've done the hard yards for you with all the links and help. You can see all the different vendors and what their prices are for the parts you wish to purchase. Don't forget that you need to account for other things like OS - Assembly cost, if you’re not building this yourself. 'Antivirus' - unless you’re opting for a freebie Because you’re ordering full system parts: Why not order OEM’ OS software – Windows – OEM Antivirus/Security. It’s a much cheaper software option. It's up to you now to run all the parts you want on both comparison price sites we gave you. Make a note of all prices on each part. If you choose to only buy from MSY-Technology - and know them, you could run the prices you found best on the sites we gave you and what site/vendor they where from - by them/meaning MSY-Technology and they may match those prices for you; in hope to sell you all the parts together. Note: buying online also -add courier expenses/insurance and possible RN's [returns if something is DOA]. I've just been looking into motherboards. The G-B EP45-DS4P is actually cheaper than the G-B EP45-DS3P at MSY. WTF is with that? the G-B EP45-DS4P is $195 and the G-B EP45-DS3P is $202.

Most likely due to buying in bulk. The DS4P is more popular.

Lost-Benji wrote: Most likely due to buying in bulk. The DS4P is more popular. I agree with Benji. and between the DS4P and DS3P I would pick the 4P it has more features, same spec's - though - the 4P has more features on the back plate and heaps more cooling abilities. Due to all the copper. See Image of: EP45-DS4P Spec of http://www.gigabyte.com.au/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2840&ProductName=GA-EP45-DS4 Now - to throw in another MOB choice in that same line - I think this is an even better contender and your looking at very similar cost. Same specs'= but more clockability and clocking features. Check these out. Comparison prices on the GA-EP45-UD3P (rev. 1.1) http://www.gigabyte.com.au/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=3012http://www.shopbot.com.au/default.asp?kw=GA-EP45-UD3P+%28rev.+1.1%29&position=searchMy choice's would be: These two below. But either one of these MOB's are a good choice. GA-EP45-UD3P (rev. 1.1) http://www.gigabyte.com.au/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=3012&ProductName=GA-EP45-UD3POr: GA-EP45-UD3R (rev. 1.1) http://www.gigabyte.com.au/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=3013What do you think Benji? and all thes MOB's have ATI cross fire ability http://www.shopbot.com.au/default.asp?kw=GA-EP45-UD3P+%28rev.+1.1%29&position=searchThere u go Genodide more for you to think about You'll have to check prices with you supplier. based on my searches. similare to yours depending on where you buy. qt101 qt101:- Decode Binary: for Signature 01000111 11101000 11101001 01101011 00100000 01000111 01101001 01110010 01101100 00100000 10010110 00100000 01000011 01101100 01101001 01101101 01100010 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100111 01100101 01101110 01110100 01101100 01100101 00100000 01110011 01101100 01101111 01110000 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01100010 01110010 01101001 01101100 01101100 01101001 01100001 01101110 01100011 01100101 00100001 00100000 00111011 01010000

Lol! What are you trying to do to me?! Just when I think I've got my build sorted, you go and throw in more choices! But seriously, thankyou for all the input, I will have to look at the choices. I am going to be looking at overclocking. Which board do you think would best suit my needs? Taking into consideration I will also be using RAID 0. Edited by Genocide: 2/4/2009 10:29:53 PM

Edited by Genocide: 2/4/2009 10:29:53 PM Sorry!!! hehe. it's a women thing! ya know we like to keep you men confussed! Nah seriously I think either on of those woulb be great! My personal preference would be the last2. Check out the links on the mobs I sent you and you can see the full spec list. Even if you do a MOB Spec comparison at the Gigabyte site - 'side by side'. You will see the last two are pretty much identical in comparison specs. Really in many ways all three are. The can all handle the same RAM and all handle max ram of 16gig. They all support CPU upgrading at a later date of Quad or Extreme Editions. I could go on, but you can see the spec lists on the links I sent you. The Only differnce in the last 2 I can see is: the PCI slot arrangements are differnt. + a few small extra's like back plate options. It also offers more SATA connectors than the previous EP45-DS4P mobs. So my pick would be the last 2. Why don't you ask Benj? about these and see what he thinks. Or ask other guys here that have knowledge of these MOB's. Maybe Benji didn't even consider the last 2 when he suggested the EP45-DS3P or EP45-DS4P Time to call your supplier one last time I think! maybe they only have one in stock of both those MOBs and that will be your final desider! Yes, the second two are nice boards and both have 6 SATA ports on the Intel ICH10R and another 2 SATA ports that can be used as RAID 1 or 0 otherwise loaded as AHCI for SATA hot-swap.
Any of the P45 chipsetted boards OC well so your safe there. A good HSF is a must. When your ready then we can goto town on it.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from. Ask questions. There's no such thing as a stupid one, just stupid answers. (mostly)
