The Aiptek Pocket DV II is an extremely cute little DV camera and is the perfect video analog of the tiny 'party snapper' digital still cameras that have been popping up. Not at all for serious videography, the Pocket DV II features a 1.3-megapixel CDD, a 1.4in LCD preview screen and some very simple design.
It has a respectable 16MB of memory built in, plus a CF slot for expanding on that. With its in-built capacity you can record 90 seconds of video at 320 x 240 or take 12 stills at 1,280 x 1,024. The Pocket DV II also functions as a PC cam (640 x 480) and voice recorder (just over an hour).
That's a fair bit of functionality in such a tiny camera. It comes with a tiny tripod and features a 10 second timer, plus it has a good software bundle including a VCD making application.
The Pocket DV II goes through AA batteries like it's popping Maltesers but it does have an auto-shutoff that cuts in after 60 idle seconds. It's not really good video technology at all, but for under $300 it's certainly worth it.
