NEC’s contribution to the ultraportable market is tougher than most, but it still struggles against the competition

NEC’s offering for this month’s roundup turned out to be a quality monitor with some noteable features: it still has last year’s styling, with a big neck that keeps the panel out of the way, lots of swivel and tilt freedom and a tiny bezel that makes the screen appear larger than it is. Internally though it’s a different story, with a new faster 16 millisecond response time, better brightness and contrast ratings.

As with all of the NEC displays we received, the bases are strong and have a good range of tilt movement.

Solid, but not flashy. However, a great price and decent battery life give it an edge.

The screen isn't great, but everything else about this notebook is very good indeed.

The only projector that disappointed was the NEC VT47.
