Although lacking the additional functions of some of the more expensive burners such as the ability to write at the faster 16-speed, burn DVD-RAM or pack 8.5GB onto a single dual layer disc - what the Optorite does is provide all the basic DVD plus and minus burning you’re likely to need without having to fork over a sizable fistful of cash to do it.
The supplied software bundle is well featured, offering Nero Express 6, PowerDVD 5 and Sonic MyDVD 5.2, all the software you’re likely to need to create and play back your home movies or store bought ones. The unit offers a front headphone jack, audio volume adjustment dial and both drive eject and track skip buttons for easy control.
Recommended for its above average scores all round, you’d be in for a challenge to find a burner of this calibre at this price. We couldn’t pass this writer up as a cheap but very capable DVD burner which would be perfect for business file archiving, home backup or putting those precious moments onto a shareable and portable medium.
