Much more efficient at reading CDs than writing them, Optorite took second place in our read tests, pipped by the Imation by a mere three seconds. This is despite the manufacturer claim of 120ms to the other company’s lower 80 to 90ms times. A solid bundle of Nero 6, InCD and PowerDVD 5 rounds out this package nicely. While this is the most aesthetically pleasing optical drive we came across, it’s not the cheapest going, but a winner if you do more CD reading than burning.
