Internode gives ADSL customers free speed upgrade

Internode are giving their customers a very early Christmas present – a free speed upgrade and double the download quota for 1500k ADSL plans. But will it be enough?
Internode are initiating a free speed upgrade for customers on slower plans and are doubling the quotas on the current 1500k HOME and SOHO ADSL plans, with as much as 5Gb to 20Gb/month extra being added on.

In addition to the speed upgrade, Internode have cut the number of broadband offerings from 16 to 6 plans, hoping that simplifying these plans will make them more attractive and user friendly.

The new plans include a $49.95 HOME plan with a 10GB download allowance and a $89.95 SOHO plan with a 40GB download quota.

Internode estimates that 98% of their customers on the HOME and SOHO 1500k ADSL plans would automatically receive a free quota upgrade on their plans, which means most of their customers can now look forward to a few extra downloads each month.

This surprising move by Internode follows recent moves by iiNet
to improve their own quotas, as customers look for better deals in the increasingly competitive broadband space.

And for those who can’t wait to be upgraded, the good news for Internode customers is that the changes are already here. The new plans took effect from August 4th.

I would like to see other ISPs (one especially, name withheld, but obvious to all) be as honest with their cost of supply as Internode is. In the last 6 months I have recieved a doubling of quota, without any increase in cost to me, or change in configuration ( I am on a 1500 plan). Thankyou Internode!!!!

I think one big ISP (you can pretty much guess who that is) needs to learn from the others and make their plans better with bigger quotas for better prices...I have 9 months before I churn away from them - can't wait as there are so many better plans out there ... It's a shame it would cost me an arm and a leg to break my current contract! ...glad it's not 24 months! ...

Wish we could get ADSL2+ from behind CMUX/RIMs too - you can't at the moment unless addition expensive equipment is deployed even if you local main exchange can deliver ADSL2+...
