KVM switches aren’t new but Belkin’s funky-looking effort hopes to bring this useful technology to the masses. Put simply it lets two computers use the same keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers (via a 3.5mm audio jack).
A typical situation lets you switch working between your desktop PC and Laptop just by clicking the ‘Flip’ switch. This sports a colour-coded LED which shows whether the orange or green input cable is being used. Note that only USB keyboards and mice can plug into it and the monitor connection is analogue VGA. A wireless-buttoned version and a DVI version is in the pipeline, but this model works very well and has become a major space and time saver in our own Labs.
