Put yourself in this situation: you're yearning for a new massively
multiplayer online RPG but your funds are a little limited.
You're bored with
Final
Fantasy Online, and you can't afford
World
of Warcraft because you purchased season one of the extras. So where do you
turn? You turn to your PC and download the free Hero.
Hero doesn't ask for any of your money. The moment your download is
complete, you're immediately submerged in an oriental world full of danger and
inhabited by other players eager to become a 'Hero'.
You begin by choosing from four characters, two male and two female, allowing
Hero to appeal to both genders.
So far so good. But to be honest, Hero's character creation is a
huge let down so, if you're a hardened role playing game fan, you'll want to
consider the character customisation gaming heresy!
There too few options to change and adapt the characters to your preferred
look and style, and choosing from four characters is not really customisation.
Despite its lush and original world there are a few other let downs, but none
of them is as disappointing as the character customisation flaws. These 'minor'
let downs include tedious point-and-click game play and relatively simple combat
sequences.
However, putting aside these setbacks, Hero is a reasonable online
game with OK graphics and an interesting martial arts concept.
At the end of the day, Hero is just another RPG that you'll probably
play for a good 10 hours or so.
Note: This is a very large download (439.9MB) so only for
broadband users.
