Dream Scene released

Owners of Windows Vista Ultimate can now finally replace their background images with videos.
Back when it was announced, one of the most exciting aspects of Windows Vista Ultimate was Dream Scene. In short it uses an MPEG 2 or WMV video in lieu of your wallpaper. The other exciting aspects of Vista Ultimate Edition is the Bit Locker security feature and a poker game.

Although it has suffered countless delays, Dream Scene has finally been released and is available for download at the Windows Ultimate Site. To use it, you need a graphics card that supports the Aero interface. If you are running on a laptop which has been untethered from the power, the video will pause so the battery isn’t decimated.

Several backgrounds are included, but you can create your own. If you plan to, we highly recommend following the recommended guidelines in a post on the Vista Ultimate blog. In short the guidelines are to keep edge motion to a minimum, to have continuous start and end points and to encode progressive 720p footage at 5Mb/s.
