BASIC
Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code; a simple programming language for students of computer programming that is simple and easy to read. It is non-structured and the commands are interpreted at runtime. Popular variants include Microsoft QuickBasic, and the more advanced Visual Basic, now evolved into VB.NET.
BBS

BIOS
Basic Input Output System; the ROM-based environment that loads first when a computer first boots up, performs basic hardware checks and then loads the operating system.
BIT
BInary Digit; a single one or zero, the smallest measurable element of digital data. See also the byte, which comprises eight bits. Larger measurements include kilobtye, gigabyte and terabyte.
.BMP (file format)
BitMaP; an image format used by Microsoft Windows, especially the simple graphics application called Paint, or MS Paint.
BRB
Be Right Back; a shorthand term used in Internet Relay Chat, online forums or bulletin boards.
BSD
Berkeley Software Distribution; a distribution of the mainframe Unix operating system from the University of California, Berkeley campus.
BSOD
Blue Screen Of Death; an error screen with white text on a blue background, generated when the Windows operating system suffers a particularly nasty crash, often related to hardware issues.
