Five geeky ways to express your love this Valentine's Day.

Five geeky ways to express your love this Valentine's Day.

It may be a crass commercialisation of the highest form of romance, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun with it.

It's Valentine's day, and for a lot of you that no doubt means either a) a lovely dinner with a nice bottle of wine, b) a lovely dinner with a nice bottle of wine AND a romantic guest, or c) a day you'd rather just ignore and play Borderlands 2 instead.

However, if you are celebrating it with someone you love/admire/respect/worship, and are the kind of person to look to top five lists on the internet for your romantic advice, boy have we got the lame top five list for you!

Here's our five favourite geek ways to say I WUV WU with a hint of geeky spice.

1. Say it with math
Sure, not our personal fave (I get the cold sweats just thinking of long division), there's nonetheless a certain elegance to this that cannot be denied. It might even be a little.. saucy.

2. Say it in 8-bit
For real elegance, though, you can't go past retro gaming. This one goes best with a date that culminates at that dingy chip shop down the road that still has an original Galaga machine. That's a guaranteed romantic win right there. Or cause for divorce.

3. Say it political leader of a somewhat dictatorial bent
Nothing says I love you like readings of Mein Kampf via candlelight, or recitations of the Little Red Book.

4. Say it with Skyrim
Because I still laugh like a loon at any and every Arrow-to-the-knee joke I see.

5. Say it with Star Wars
Still my favourite geeky Valentine's message of all time, and one I use every year. Trust me, the ladies (and the boys) go WILD for Alliance Tactical Briefings.

Special Mention: NEVER say it with Predator
Because, well, look at that thing.
