The number of manufacturers supporting AMD solutions has increased enormously of late, but despite the competition Asus has remained one of the best. The A7M266 is a good example of why this is so, featuring support for Ultra/ATA100 hard disks and the fastest DDR memory modules without costing the earth. Other notable features include an AGP Pro slot, which provides the best graphics card support currently available. Performance aside, the motherboard also features a jumperless configuration for easy setup, plus five PCI slots for peripheral card additions. The only downside is the provision of just two DIMM sockets, which limits the flexibility for memory configurations. Overall though, the Asus A7M266 is a stable, fully featured and powerful motherboard that will serve as an excellent platform for the rest of the system.
