Inexpensive tool for backing your data to another computer or online
System Requirements:
We’re told that we should back up our important data, files and work, but how
many of us even bother. As we have larger hard drives, finding a backup
destination isn’t always easy. You could burn data to a DVD, then store, but
those files are soon out of date.
The other alternative is online. There are many different online backup plans
that enable you to backup important data to the Internet. BT’s Digital Vault is
a good example. Indeed, you could use this to backup only the information and
data that you think is mission critical. For instance, your latest work files,
contacts, bookmarks and perhaps your fonts. Yes, your fonts. How many of us
collect fonts from multiple sources and then forget to back them up when we move
up to a new drive or computer?
CrashPlan is technology for Windows, Mac or Linux that enables you to backup
your data to the Internet. You’re offered 50GB as part of the standard plan,
which should be enough for important data. You’re not just restricted backing up
to the Internet, either. You can backup to another computer, external drive and
also choose the files you want to backup.
CrashPlan supply you with your own desktop tool that you can use to configure
your backups, making it an automated process.
