Comprehensive email client
Platform : Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP
Type: freeware
Manufacturer: Eudora
Size: 16.6MB
Rating: 4
Verdict:
Long-standing and powerful email client
System Requirements:
Despite the focus on Firefox and its cousin Thunderbird it is worth looking
at Eudora as a replacement for Outlook Express. It offers several unique
features including the ability to monitor emails for offensive language on the
way out to avoid arguments.
Eudora is available in several versions, one paid for and two free. Of the
free versions one has all the features but is ad supported. A small window in
the interface carries ads or it can be moved as a floating window. A more basic
version is available without the ads.
Emails are indexed on arrival for fast searches later on, even if there are
thousands of emails that have been received.
The BossWatch warning is a safety net when clicking on the reply to all
button to prevent sending the email to an embarrassing person such as your boss.
Eudora also supports IMAP email accounts where the emails are stored on an
external server and not downloaded. AOL users will appreciate this feature as
this is the only way of accessing their email without using the AOL software.
Note that a Mac version is available from the
Eudora
website.
