Downloading MP3 files is not the only way to enjoy music with an internet connection. RadioTracker 2 claims to allow you to download as much music as you want from the internet.

Avanquest claims that it uses the same principle as using a tape player to record music from the ordinary radio and this is how it stays in the clear legally. It should be noted that our understanding of copyright law is that this is still a breach of copyright.

However, rather than downloading MP3 files, RadioTracker 2 records music from SHOUTcast. This is a streaming technology, like that used by the Realplayer, and cannot ordinarily be saved. Because there is nothing wrong with listening to a SHOUTcast music, no one is likely to know that it has been converted to MP3.

RadioTracker 2 can read the information about music played over SHOUTcast so you can select artists and genres rather than randomly downloading music.

It also offers the option to convert the MP3 files so they can be used as mobile ring tones.
