QuickView Pro

A multimedia player that runs under DOS.

Platform : MS-Dos, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98

Type: function limited demo

Manufacturer: Multimediaware

Size: 203Kb

Rating: 2

Verdict: Although this does the job OK, it is not exactly big on features, and unless you are still using Windows 3.1 you are better of with any of the other players available.

System Requirements:
DOS 3.0 or better, or a DOS shell under Windows 95/98 and OS/2, a VESA 2.0 compliant graphics card or driver, Sound Blaster compatible sound card (or ESS card), a Gravis UltraSound Classic or MAX, or a Windows Sound System.

QuickView Pro is a simple little utility that operates under the DOS operating system and allows you to view video, sound and images.

A fairly wide range of formats is supported including MPG, AVI, MOV, BMP, GIF, JPG, MP1, MP3 and WAV amongst many others.

Because QuickView Pro runs under DOS it is extremely small in its file size with the whole program taking up just only 200Kb - very handy if you are short of disk space.

Unlike the Windows environment, DOS can be a little clumsy to navigate and it certainly takes longer to operate a program under DOS than Windows. However, it is far less likely to crash or freeze, unlike applications running under Windows.

QuickView is simply a player that has the basic functions but nothing more. You can create play lists, but this has to be done by creating a text document first and then invoking this list from within QuickView Pro.

To use the most helpful features of QuickView Pro you will need to know a little in terms of DOS commands, otherwise you will simply be lost.
