Using an instant message program such as AIM or email to communicate with colleagues on the same network is silly - you should consider Pink Notes Plus.
This program allows users to send messages back and forth, either instantly or delayed, via a local network or over the internet. Faster and more secure than other instant messaging clients and email, Pink Notes Plus ensures that your message arrives instantly.
Consisting of a Master and a Client, the Master needs to be installed on one networked PC, while each user wishing to send and receive messages needs to install the Client on their PC. The Client is completely free, while the Master is a time-limited demo.
As well sending basic messages, items can be sent to multiple recipients and marked as urgent (sounds and flashing icons appear on-screen), attachments can be sent and you can even delay the message, which is great for planning ahead.
For those essential communications messages can be sent that force the user to reply, and a number of one-click commands allow for fast communication. Prepare and send pre-written replies, send messages later, auto-forward, include active email and internet links, and even email from within Pink Notes Plus for those external communications.
If there is anything this program doesn't do it is probably not worth doing.
