SETI stands for Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence and is a huge research project designed to investigate and hopefully discover intelligent life forms elsewhere in the universe. With this screensaver on your PC, you can become involved in the SETI@home project and, potentially, be the discoverer of alien life.

The project is based in Berkeley, California and receives radio signals from outer space using Arecibo, the worlds largest radio telescope. Download this screensaver and join over three million other users in the task of analysing these radio signals for signs of ET.

When the screensaver is active chunks of radio data from the Berkeley computers are processed using your PC's power in the search for abnormal patterns. Downloads occur once every few days and last for about five minutes. All processed data is sent back to Berkeley and, should you find anything interesting, it is displayed on the SETI@home website for all to see.

Visual representations of this analysis are displayed on-screen, including colour graphs and statistics on your progress in the search for intelligent life.
