Verdict: A great antivirus and antispyware program at no cost

UltraBar only works with Internet Explorer (IE) version 5.01 or higher.

This free utility adds a search toolbar to your Internet Explorer browser, in a similar manner to the Google Toolbar.

But unlike the Google Toolbar, UltraBar isn't restricted to searching Google alone. It comes complete with a list of many search engines, including Google, Altavista, Yahoo and Looksmart.

It also has several specialist search sites in its list, including dictionary.com (for looking up words and their definitions), Yahoo stocks (for checking stocks) and a Domain lookup (for searching domain names).

It can also be adapted to include any site or search engine you would like - simply enter its details via the search menu.

Search results are displayed in the current window, which is a shame as this means you have to leave the site you are currently viewing. It would have been better to display results in a new window.
