Other than marking records as private or 'hiding' them, Palm devices have no built-in security features. Private/hidden records can be easily read by opening the Palm Desktop database in any standard text editor.

For effective security you need a third-party application, and Cloak is a powerful method of storing encrypted private data on both the Palm and the desktop.

Cloak can store anything at all. Data can be split into eleven sub-types including Bank, Credit Card, Membership, Software Website, and a Miscellaneous category for data that doesn't fit any other type.

Data can be entered either on the Palm or using the Cloak desktop application, and all entries are synchronised on every hotsync. The powerful 128bit Blowfish encryption algorithm is used to ensure all data remains secure, and both the Palm and desktop applications can be password protected.

Existing data in .csv format can be imported into Cloak, and data can be exported as either .csv or .txt files. Data can be split into user-definable categories, such as Business & Personal, for easy look-up.
