JackFlash Light 3.0

Impressive and free antivirus and antispyware package

Platform : Palm OS

Type:

Manufacturer: Brayder Technologies

Size: 205KB

Rating: 5

Verdict: A great antivirus and antispyware program at no cost

System Requirements:
Any Palm device with Flash ROM - currently the Palm Tungsten C, Tungsten T, Tungsten T2, Tungsten T3, Tungsten W, m500, m505, m515, i705, III, IIIc, IIIx, IIIxe, V, Vx, Handera TRGPro, Kyocera 6035, and Sony Clie (except SL10, SJ20, SJ22, SJ30 and TG50). JackFlash does NOT run on the following devices: Palm IIIe, m100, m105, m125, m130, VII, VIIx, IBM WorkPad 30J, Handspring Visors.

With JackFlash you can nearly double the amount of available memory on your Palm. This is done through giving you access to the unused portion of the built-in Flash ROM on your handheld. Depending on which Palm you own, you could add up to 832Kb to your available memory.

When opening JackFlash you are presented with a list of all your installed applications and their corresponding databases. Using a drop-down menu you select various options to ascertain which applications (and databases) are stored in ROM and which in RAM.

Alongside each entry in this list is another drop-down menu from which you can select whether you wish to put the application into RAM or Flash ROM, and whether to delete or beam applications.

Transferring applications from one location to another is as simple as that, and they can be swapped back and forth at will.

JackFlash includes a small utility that, when installed, allows all the data stored in Flash to be accessed in the event of a hard reset or battery failure. It isn't essential, as all data in Flash will be accessible on reinstalling JackFlash, but it does make things a little easier.

This free version only allows you access to 64K of flash memory. Upgrade to the full version for $19.99.
