InkSaver 2.0

Impressive and free antivirus and antispyware package

Platform : Windows 2000, Windows XP

Type:

Manufacturer: Strydent Software

Size: 4.2MB

Rating: 5

Verdict: A great antivirus and antispyware program at no cost

System Requirements:
Minimum: 64MB RAM; 20MB hard disk space; any inkjet printer (InkSaver 2.0 works with all inkjet printer brands including HP, EPSON, Canon, Lexmark and many more - excluding A3 printers.)

Ink is expensive, with replacement cartridges often equalling the cost of some low-end printers.

InkSaver offers a way of cutting your printing costs by reducing the amount of ink used for each print job. Compatibility has been improved with version 2, so that it now works with pretty much all makes and types of inkjet printer (although not A3 printers).

It works a little like printing in draft mode, but without the reduction in resolution. The only change is in the amount of ink used.

It is easy to use: simply select the amount of ink you wish to save using two sliding bars, one for black ink and another for colour. Savings can be set anywhere between zero and 75 per cent.

The amount of ink saved will directly affect the quality of printing, but results are perfectly adequate when set to 40 per cent saving for black ink, and around 10 per cent for colour.

A sample page gives you an idea of what print jobs will look like using different settings.

The truly money-conscious can use the savings estimator to calculate exactly how much they are saving.
