Chicken Rush puts you in the character of a gun-slinging cartoon chicken called Paula who has dedicated herself to defending the roost from a horde of hungry goblins armed with, you guessed it, giant forks.

Anyone who has played Lemmings, Time Keepers or Chu Chu Rocket will understand the level of artificial intelligence these gremlins possess, or rather the complete and utter lack of it.

They simply run back and forth across the screen in a similar attack pattern to the Space Invader enemies, advancing towards Paula extremely slowly.

So all you need to do to make them hen fodder is stand still and bash the mouse button as the legion walks into your hail of musket shells and is abruptly routed.

There are other units like bulldozers, spring riders and kamikazes who ride along your firing area. You have to weave in and out of them if you don't want to get instantly flattened.

The trouble with Chicken Rush is that the endless slaughter gets incredibly dull after a while. Another problem is that the support enemies give no indication of when they're going to attack, and hence become impossible to dodge.
