For ISPs, we asked you to rate customer support, reliability and value for money.
Westnet has, quite simply, the highest
score we’ve ever seen in R&S. The
8600 voters who filled in the survey for
Westnet are also ample proof that it’s
not a small cadre of happy customers
skewing the voting pool – the vast
majority of Westnet’s customers appear
to truly believe that their ISP is the
best thing since always-on internet. An
amazing 5782 of those 8600 customers
said they were very satisfied with
support, and a similarly remarkable
5489 were very satisfied with reliability.
Westnet won our award last year, and
it’s a favourite with Whirlpool regulars,
too. We’re happy to call it the best
ISP in Australia and extend a hearty
congratulations for showing how
internet should be done.
But it’s at the bottom of the ISP
list that things get interesting. People
love to hate bad ISPs, as we’ve seen
in previous years, and this year is no
exception. The lowest rated ISPs have
some of the lowest scores we’ve ever
seen in R&S. It’s not like Dodo or
Telstra are unfamiliar with the view
from the bottom of our survey results,
either – both ranked bottom last year,
and the year before.
We’re left wondering why anyone
still uses either. For Telstra, the answer
is, simply, that for many people it’s the
only game in town. Dodo has a high
rate of complaints listed with the TIO
– sometimes more than Telstra, despite
having fewer customers.
