GPS

Winner TomTom
TomTom GPS

TomTom was the only real conteder in the GPS category.

GPS was an experimental category and the market proved very immature. Out of 2100 voters half used TomTom software – which proved to be a clear winner. It romped home in the Ease Of Use stakes satisfying 96% of buyers (two-thirds were Very Satisfied). Mio Map scored lowest – satisfying 83% of users – hardly terrible.

Scores were noticeably lower for Accuracy of Maps and Routing. TomTom was top but could still only satisfy 86% of customers while everyone else hovered around the mid 70s.

Mio Map was the only company to surpass having 80% of buyers satisfied with Value, pleasing 83%. Navman dropped to 69% and everyone else scored around the mid 70s.

Finally, 95% of TomTom buyers said they’d buy from the company again leaving it way ahead of the competition. Garmin’s StreetPilot followed, with 86% thinking likewise, but everyone else saw only three-quarters of buyers saying they’d be back.
