A look at the rumoured 7.85in iPad Mini compered to its full size iPad brother and iPhone, anyone?

Is this the new iPad Mini rumoured to be unveiled by Apple this October? No it's not. This is a mock-up model. But all is not lost: this ersatz iPad Mini shot by Giz-China has landed right after an iPad Mini design appeared online – suggesting this could be the result of a leak, and a glimpse at what we can expect from Apple's rumoured pint-size tablet.

The iPad Mini model unsurprisingly features the new Lightning dock connector, as seen on the iPhone 5. Unlike the new iPhone, though, the iPad Mini's audio jack remains on the top of the device. It also sports newly designed, separate volume buttons instead of a rocker – again, like the iPhone 5. The iPad Mini appears to feature a micro-SIM rather than a nano-SIM upgrade, while a black strip along the top nods to cellular radio included for 3G – and possibly 4G –  connectivity.

Expect to see the iPad Mini appear in all its 7.85in glory at an Apple event next month – and we'll be there to bring your our first impressions of the real deal.
