Pre-order bonuses comes in many shapes and sizes, but Hitman: Sniper Challenge is somewhat unique. This is a standalone title, limited in scope, but only available to those who put down cash to pre-order Hitman: Absolution. After first launching on consoles, today marks its debut on the PC, along with a competition for those who pre-order from Ebgames.
Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a single level in which you have to assassinate a target and his bodyguards. Points are awarded for everything from hiding bodies to stringing together multiple shots. Perform well enough and you can unlock upgrades that you can use in the full game, and you’ll also have the chance to appear on leaderboards that track the best scores.
While the Sniper challenge and unlocks for the final game are available to all preorders, those who go with EBGames get an extra competition. Each month until the game launches, the best performers on the leaderboards will have a chance to win a set of Sennheiser headphones and some Hitman goodies. The catch is that you need to show your EBGames pre-order receipt to claim prizes.
It is worth pointing out before Hitman aficionados rush down to EBGames that the boxed ‘Professional Edition’ of the game for the PC is currently $78 versus US $53.99 to pre-order the same version on Steam. It means that Steam users only get digital versions of the included Art Book and making of video, but they will still get the same Agency Gun Pack DLC bundle and access to the Sniper challenge.
