Apple ordered to publish “ads” for Samsung

Apple ordered to publish “ads” for Samsung

UK Judge who ruled Galaxy Tab "uncool" tells Apple to post notice on website and in newspapers saying that Samsung did not copy the iPad

Apple has been ordered to post a notice on its website and in newspapers and magazines across England alerting the public to the fact that its iPad design was not copied by Samsung.

Judge Colin Birss, who on 9th July ruled that the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab were unlikely to be confused because Samsung’s designs are simply “not as cool” as Apple’s, today said that Apple must keep a notice on its UK home page for six months.

Apple clearly won’t be pleased about running what amounts to an advert for one of its chief competitors on its own website, so expect this to go to appeal soon.
