Samsung Galaxy S III: the most powerful mobile device yet?

The silicon brains of Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy S III powerhouse look set to run rings around the competition.

We're not normally ones for long numbers and benchmarks, but leaked results of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III's 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor are impressive enough to get our gadget senses tingling with anticipation.

PhoneArena's reportedly genuine screenshots of the Galaxy S III's silicon innards reveal that it trumps the Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, the quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and the iPhone 4S' A5 chip.

Even the new iPad 3's quad-core graphics (reviewed here) aren't safe from the power of Samsung's home-grown quad-core Exynos beast, which appears to pack the same graphical punch as Apple's latest slate, with 50 per cent more graphical power than the Samsung Galaxy S II.

We'll of course be taking all of this with a pinch of salt given that Samsung's official Galaxy S III unveiling has yet to take place. If true however, then Samsung has definitely cranked the heat up to 11 in the smartphone wars. Your move, iPhone 5...
