Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was the biggest money spinner at the box office in 2011, yet only managed to scrape in at tenth spot on the list of most downloaded movies compiled by TorrentFreak. Most of the top 10 pirated movies brought in less than $US500 million at the box office, whereas tenth-placed Harry Potter managed to conjure up $US1.3 billion.
Meanwhile other box office hits such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Transformers: Dark of the Moon failed to make the BitTorrent Top 10 list. The figures would indicate that even people who illegally download movies still prefer to enjoy blockbuster films in a cinema.
