Grid10 stalls as Fusion Garage falls silent

Ominous signs as partners distance themselves from Singapore-based tablet manufacturer.

Fusion Garage – the manufacturer of the Grid10 and JooJoo tablets - looks to have shut up shop, with contacts for the company unable to say whether it continues to trade.

The company was behind a mass marketing campaign for the Grid10 tablet launch earlier this year, but months after the first tablets were expected to ship, the company’s website is diverting to security warning announcements, while forum posters complain they have not received hardware.

The company’s former UK public relations company, Kaizo, was unable to offer any information, k: “We know as much as you.”

Meanwhile, the company’s US representative McGrath Power is reportedly planning to cut its links with the Singapore-based manufacturer. According to a report on The Verge, the company had been out of contact, prompting a frosty end to the relationship.

"Unfortunately, none of our efforts have resulted in any communication from the company to the customers," a McGrath Power spokesperson told The Verge. "Given all of this, we don't have any other choice but to cease working with Fusion Garage."

The website for the company is currently up and running, despite reports of earlier closures, but links to contacts and FAQs lead through to security warnings.

“You attempted to reach shop.fusiongarage.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.projectwebby.com,” ran the Chrome browser alert.

“This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of shop.fusiongarage.com. You should not proceed.”

On a forum dedicated to the company’s tablets, one customer said he had been waiting weeks for a replacement tablet.

When he complained of the delay he was told: “We have not replied to your email because of some issues faced by the company. Please do hold on for an update on the refunds issues you are having. We apologised [sic] for this unacceptable but avoidable error.”
