Samsung prepping Google TV set

The smartphone partnership extends to TV land as Sammy readies a Google TV-enabled set.

Samsung is gearing up to launch its first Google TV set next year, though sadly not quite in time for CES 2012, according to Reuters.

Google TV is currently only available in the US, and Sony makes TVs with the service built in, while Logitech makes compatible set top boxes. However the Google gogglebox service should hopefully make it to Australia some time next year.

The president of Samsung's TV division, Yoon Boo-keun, says that Samsung's Google TV offering will differ from competitors' products, though in what way we're not told.

Samsung already produces its own Smart TV technology, announcing recently that it had over 1,000 apps available for the platform. We can't wait to see how they compare.
