Facebook 4.0 has dropped into the App Store as a universal app, and whether you are an existing user of the iPhone app, or you’re one of the thousands of people who has been eagerly anticipating an iPad optimized version, there’s plenty to look forward to.
The app should not compe as a complete surprise to anyone as there have been numerous leaks as delays have hampered released, but it is now finally here for everyone to play with. The changes that have been made are immediately apparent as there has been something of a redesign. The iPad version of the app very closely resembles the look of the Facebook web site, while both the iPhone and iPad version feature a new navigation bar that provides access to different sections of your account, including Facebook apps.
Rather than having to make do with an expanded version of an iPhone app, iPad users can take advantage of full screen photos, zooming in and out using the familiar pinch gesture. The fact that apps are now accessible through the navigation panel to the side of the screen hints at something else – it is possible to play full screen games.
Some users have experienced problems after upgrading to the latest version of the app. If you find that you are unable to sign into your account, or the app freezes, uninstall it from your iOS device before re-downloading it. Once up and running, performance of the app seems to have been enhanced, and while there are few surprises for anyone who has been following the apps development, it is a joy to use and enables us to report that the iPad finally has a dedicated Facebook app worth installing.
You can find out more and download a free copy of the app by paying a visiting to the Facebook 4.0 review page.
