Back-up Elvis tribute singer becomes "voice of Australia" for TomTom

How "Aussie" do you like your GPS device to sound? Listen to the voice of 23 year old university student James Gauci, now available to TomTom users around the world.

TomTom scored some attention last year with this video for its Darth Vader GPS voice, so we're wondering how the world will take to the latest TomTom voice - spoken by 23 year old psychology student James Gauci, who's bio lists "backup singer in an Elvis tribute show" among other previous performances.

Gauci's voice can now be downloaded by TomTom users around the world after he won the "Voice of Australia" competition, which invited members of the public to submit recordings of themselves. You can hear Gauci's competition entry here.

Amidst the "Gdays" and "mates" there'll be no mistaking which country the speaker is from. We only wonder how many Australians will stick with Gauci, or the subtler Australian "Ken” accent already available to TomTom users.
