Projector Roundup

Why bother buying a big screen that takes up part of your wall, when you can buy a cheap projector and take up the entire wall?

Why bother buying a big screen that takes up part of your wall, when you can buy a cheap projector and take up the entire wall?

Home projection has been a dream of many a technophile. It’s part of that old big-screen envy, but with the cost of CRT, rear-projection, TFTs and plasma televisions dropping steadily the big-screen dream is more of a reality. But when it comes to truly huge images, nothing beats the sheer image-for-buck ratio of a projector.

Which is why we’ve rounded up seven of the latest home theatre projectors on the market. Furthermore, we ensured that the projectors submitted cost less than $2500, and if possible under $2000. I think you’ll be as pleasantly surprised as we were at the kind of home theatre goodness you can buy now.

It’s not all fun though. Each projector was subjected to a thorough test suite that examined them for defects and imperfections. We also took into consideration the environmental factors – how much noise and heat the projectors output, plus we subjected them to a rigorous test of gaming, DVD and media playback.

We also rounded up a few of the more serious projectors for small business. Again, these had to cost below $2500 and you can find them on page 80.

So with winter coming it’s time to snuggle on the couch with the lights out, the heater on, and a good movie to watch – only this season you’ll be throwing out your TV.
