Optus has announced a new incentive to sign up to its premium mobile and home phone plans -- 50GB of free fixed broadband per month.
The deal will be made available to customers who sign up to the $89 Timeless Mobile Plan or $59.95 Optus Home Advantage Plan; both over 24 months. Businesses will also receive 50GB of free broadband when they sign up to the 24-month $89 Business Timeless Plan.
The free fixed home broadband can be used anytime of the day or night (as opposed to being divided into peak/off-peak periods). Once the 50GB quota has been exceeded, speed is limited to 256Kbps for the rest of the billing cycle.
In addition to 50GB of free high-speed home broadband, the $89 Timeless Mobile Plan includes unlimited standard national voice calls and SMS for your mobile phone. The $59.95 Optus Home Advantage plan, meanwhile, combines unlimited standard local, national and 13/1300 calls for your home phone with no additional line rental.
The $89 Business Timeless Plan comes with unlimited standard national voice calls to Australian fixed lines and mobiles, unlimited standard national texts and 2GB of included mobile data.
It's worth noting that both the Timeless and Home Advantage plans aren't the cheapest on the market even when the free broadband is taken into account, but you could do worse. 24 months is also a long time to be saddled to the same phone plan though- especially with future 4G and NBN rollouts on the horizon.
As always, it's a good idea to shop around before committing to a two-year contract.
