Logitech MX Revolution and VX Revolution

Overall:

Why be anything less than perfectly comfortable when using your computer?

Our favourite wired mouse is Logitech’s outstanding G5 gaming mouse but now Logitech is introducing ‘the most advanced wireless mice around’. The MX (left: a rechargeable desktop version with docking station) and VX (right: a smaller notebook version) are very similar laser mice. Both connect via a 2.4GHz WiFi dongle (the VX’s can be stowed in the mouse’s body). No drivers are needed though installing the Set Point software allows each button and wheel to be programmed extensively.

The main shouting point is the ‘MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel’. A quick flick will set this freewheeling through 20,000 Excel rows in several seconds. However, when moved slowly a ratchet engages and it clicks normally. The ratchet change is automatic on the MX but you must switch the VX’s mode manually. Both sport a nudge button for zooming or application switching, and two more programmable buttons. The Polytetrafluoroethylene feet glide very easily, while accuracy and responsiveness are as good as good wired devices. Ergonomics and comfort are top.

At $159 for the MX and $113 for the VX, they’re not cheap. But they’re the best wireless mice we’ve seen.
