Sony VAIO VoIP Mouse

Sony VAIO VoIP Mouse

Overall:

Two features step into the ring, and take each other out. It's a nice concept though.

800dpi optical sensor; VoIP phone
Sony is no stranger to the peripherals market, but this is its first VoIP product. Primarily, it’s an 800dpi optical mouse, but it flips open to reveal a clamshell-style handset. It doesn’t come with any software, but it works perfectly with Skype, with the scroll wheel doubling as a volume control.

Unfortunately, it’s only a qualified success as either a mouse or a VoIP handset. It isn’t particularly ergonomic in either of its roles, and using it for an extended period quickly becomes tiring. There’s also the fact that unless you have a supplementary trackpad you won’t be able to use the mouse at the same time as making a VoIP call. The price on release will be around $100: which is high despite its twin features.
