You probably read, with great excitement, our story about Kyocera’s tissue conducting mobile tech. Now you can get excited again as the Kyocera Urbano Progresso mobile makes it a reality on its May 30th Japanese release.
The Urbano Progresso smartphones use Kyocera’s Smart Sonic Receiver technology to turn the screen into a vibrating speaker. The 4in OLED display uses a piezo-electric actuator to create the vibrations which, when held up to your ear, transmit crystal clear sound directly to your inner ear. It also means hearing the phone is easier than current speaker-based efforts when in noisy surroundings. And with an 8.1MP camera, coupled with a 1.4GHz Snapdragon S2 processor, it’s an impressive mobile even without the ground-breaking tissue conducting tech.
The Kyocera Urbano Progresso mobile will be released in Japan on May 30th. And if you’re thinking of importing (as no UK or US release has been announced) you can do it safe in the knowledge the phone is CDMA, GSM, UMTS, and GPRS friendly.
