Sonos has taken the wraps off its new wireless subwoofer – appropriately known as the Sonos SUB.
Sandwiching two force-cancelling speakers (placed face to face to minimise cabinet rattle), DSP circuitry and a pair of Class-D digital amplifiers into its glossy black frame, the SUB is intended to be a one-stop shop for your bass needs.
Accordingly, setup is simply a matter of plugging the SUB in, switching it on and following some prompts on your Sonos controller. It's equally happy standing upright – so you can show off that rather swanky design – or tucked away out of sight, lying flat.
Naturally, the SUB will sync up with Sonos' range of amplified components – though non-amplified components aren't supported – and can be controlled using the Sonos Controller apps for Android, iPhone, Mac and PC.
The Sonos SUB launches in mid-June and will be available in a high-gloss black lacquer finish for $999. A black matte finish will be available in October at $899.
