Acer reveals Aspire M5 Ultrabooks

Acer reveals Aspire M5 Ultrabooks

Trying to keep your head above the torrent of recent Ultrabook announcements? Better catch your breath – here's another one.

Another week, another Ultrabook announcement, this time courtesy of Acer, which has parted the curtains to reveal its new M5 Ultrabook range.

Available in both 14in and 15in models (both packing Intel's latest Ivy Bridge silicon), the Acer Aspire M5 features a thinner display bezel and a sleek metallic silver chassis with a black backlit chiclet keyboard.

A 1GB Nvidia GT 640M will be running the show in the graphics department and both models measure in at around 20mm thin. Not quite as thin as Fujitsu's world's thinnest Ultrabook then, but not a bad effort considering the inclusion of an optical drive.

The 15in model also packs in dedicated number keys for some exciting on-the-go spreadsheet shenanigans and an 'ample' amount of hard drive space or SSD options will also be available for both models.

Acer's Instant-On feature also promises a nippy 1.5 seconds resume from sleep and the battery is slated to last for around 8 hours.

If all those specs have piqued your interest then stay tuned for official pricing information ahead of the expected mid-June release date.
