The HTC Velocity 4G smartphone will hit Australian stores in less than a week.

HTC has become the first smartphone vendor to launch a 4G handset in Australia, today announcing the Velocity 4G will hit shelves from Tuesday next week.

In partnership with Telstra, the 4.5 inch touchscreen, 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 8 megapixel camera-toting phone will be available for pre-order online from today via the Telstra website.

It will retail for business customers on a $90 Business Mobile Advantage Member Plan, and for consumer customers on the $79 Freedom Connect Plan.

In addition to Telstra stores, the phone will be available to purchase from FoneZone and JB Hi-Fi at launch.
